Happy Monday
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed that sunshine.
In today’s newsletter I thought I would share with you my 18 ‘things’ These ‘things’ are what I am doing that have been working for me or stuff I am just thinking about.
So in the words of Bruce Lee ‘absorb what is useful and discard what is not’
One
People tend to think more about weight loss than they do disease prevention. Maybe we need a shift in thinking
Two
Gut health is even more important than we think. Did you know that 70% of Melatonin the sleep hormone is made in the gut. 80% of your immune system is located in your digestive tract. There is a reason why we use the phrase ‘gut instinct’
Three
The current leading cause of death is now ‘correctly prescribed pharmaceutical drugs.’ Half the drugs people are on, are to combat the side effects of the other drugs they’re on. If there ever was evidence of a failing medical system this would be it.
Four
5 minutes of gratitude journaling can be amazing for your health, stress levels and mental well being. I use and highly recommend ‘The Five Minute Journal’
Six
Fitness is not a tool for fixing flaws. You’re not broken, damaged or in need of any sort of repair. Training is not a punishment for our eating sins.
Seven
Your goal of training is simply to be the best version of you. Whatever that means to you.
Eight
I believe that health and fitness professionals have always played the poor cousins to the medical community. I highly respect the work of Doctors and I think they are invaluable during trauma. But while the general population remain dependent of pharmaceutical drugs I think we need to seek out alternatives to our health. That said if I am sick I will see a doctor but if I want to be healthy I will see a Health Coach.
Nine
Other than laughter the best medicine is going for a hike and being at one with nature.
Ten
I love to read. Feed your mind as well as your body. The current list includes..
Power vs Force by David Hawkins
The way of the superior man by David Deida
As a man thinketh by James Allen
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
Eleven
I know it’s cliche but it’s true ‘Your Greatest Wealth is Your Health’
Twelve
Winter is on it’s way, so eat more bone broth. Bone broth is rich in minerals that support your immune system and contain healing compounds like proline, glutamine and glycine.
Thirteen
More and more research is suggesting Alzheimer’s is Type 3 diabetes. If that’s not a good reason to go easy on the sugar then I don’t know what is.
Fourteen
Stand more and sit less
Fifteen
Stress, it’s more than just a bad day at the office. Stress is really killing us, slowly, painfully and often we don’t even realise it. Stress can be HIDDEN from us.
H is for Hormones.
I is for Immunity.
D is for Digestion.
D is for Detoxification.
E is for Elimination.
N is for Neurotransmitters.
Sixteen
One of the best things you can do for your soul is to get up and watch the sunrise. Here is a photo I took from this morning’s sunrise walk.
Seventeen
If you want to restore your health then stop chasing symptoms and get to the root cause. Modern synthetic drugs simply mask the illness, they don’t actually get to the origin.
Eighteen
You guys are awesome. I just want to say a huge thank you to you.
That’s it for today. Stay Healthy
