Yes, Gymtimidation certainly is a real thing. And we completely get why. For many walking into a typical gym environment full of grunting, posing, weight dropping, staring and ego’s can make anyone feel anxious and uneasy
BUT a gym experience doesn’t have to be that way, believe me. In fact it’s one of the reasons Krystie and I started Results Personal Training. Back in 2012 (10 years ago) we started Results here in NZ. We created our business to help ‘normal’ people like you. For people who don’t like or have never stepped foot in a gym before.
We believe that Fitness is for everyone and in this newsletter we are going to share with you how to overcome those first time nerves and rediscover your fitness mojo.
You won’t find shirts off intimidation at Results
FEAR – “people will judge my lack of fitness ability or my appearance’’
If you haven’t trained in some time then it’s completely normal to feel a little insecure about the way you look while exercising, or it simply being too hard.
Fear Not, at Results we pride ourselves on our friendly community. Our intimate environment enables members to get to know each other by name, many of whom have been in those very same shoes not long ago themselves. NO ego’s or unwelcoming vibes.
FEAR – “I won’t know what I’m supposed to be doing’’
If you have been a member of a regular gym then you may well have had the experience of signing forms, paying for a membership and then left to your own devices. After a little wandering around the gym floor you jump on the cross-trainer which becomes your home for a few weeks until you get bored and simply stop going.
Needless to say you don’t get any results and end up back on the sofa watching Shortland Street believing that the gym thing isn’t for you.
The first thing we do at Results is sit down and talk to you. We ask you about your goals, your experiences, limitations, and much more. We talk to you and show you through ‘how it all looks’
At Results every session is coach-led (no aimlessly wandering around), better yet we offer a Functional Movement Screen to members to identify any limitations, dysfunctions, or weaknesses. This gives us the coach a better understanding of where you’re at. Your starting point.
FEAR – “I’ll get bored’’
Have your past experiences felt a little like groundhog day? For many hours and hours of the exact same workout pounding away on treadmills, every session will leave you feeling bored. I personally would go out of my mind.
That’s why every session is different. However, it’s not “variety for the sake of variety’’. We use fundamental movements in a specific way, so we know what you’re doing isn’t just gonna get you tired and sweaty, it’s going to get you better.
As we always say “more is not better, better is better’’
To Conclude
Krystie and I wanted to create a space that was all about helping people achieve complete body wellness. We work directly and closely with every individual client and the focus remains forever and entirely on you.
Results Personal Training is far from your average gym, in fact we are not a gym. We knew we didn’t want to create a place that was only interested in selling you a membership, a place where you are not a person but rather a number.
We wanted something different; a place where you can truly learn what it feels like to be fit, healthy and energised. We wanted to create something new, a place where like minded individuals wanted to be their best and inspire, empower and educate others to be their best too.
